UMYF United Methodist Youth Fellowship
Open to 7th - 12th graders and meets on Sunday evenings each month of the
year. Sunday evening meetings include recreation, refreshments, and a planned
program. Our Youth participate in service projects and in conference and
district-wide programs and retreats. Occasional Lock-ins are also planned with
fun, food and fellowship.
Youth Retreats
(For youth grades 7- 12)
Conference Spiritual Life Retreat at Springmaid Beach located in Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina. This weekend retreat is usually held in January or
February. SEJ Laity Convocation at Lake Junaluska and Kingdom '99 a national
youth Retreat. Other retreats to various places designed specifically for John
Wesley UMYF.
Service Projects
Salkehatchie Summer Service, Youth Service Charleston, Canoe-A-Thon, Crisis
Ministries Shelter, Our Lady of Mercy Outreach and Souper Bowl.
The Pumpkin Patch
An intergenerational service project. We sell pumpkins on the front lawn of
the church. The pumpkins are from the Navaho Indian Reservation in New Mexico.
Proceeds go to the Navaho Indians and for a variety of mission outreach
programs.
Youth Annual Conference and Leadership Week
A week-long event held at Columbia College in July. This is a time for
spiritual growth, leadership, election of officers for the district and state
levels and election of Youth Service Fund programs.
Conference Youth Choir
A choir composed of youth from all over South Carolina by audition only.
The choir spends several days learning a musical and then tours South Carolina
churches presenting the musical.
National Day of Prayer - Adopt-A-Leader
We adopt someone in government for specific prayer concerns.
See-You-at-the-Pole
Youth meet in the morning before school starts at the school flagpole for
prayer
