This summer, John Wesley United Methodist Church will offer a fun and innovative soccer camp for kids.  Our camp is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of kids.  The focus is to improve individual technique and promote player enjoyment in a fun and exciting environment.  These are proven building blocks for youth development.

Our staff has been carefully selected based upon their ability to communicate with young children and serve as positive role models.  Our Camp will be run by Ed Carson  & Robert Jordan.  They are both accomplished and credentialed soccer players and coaches.

Our Camp will Stress the Following:

INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION

There will be a camper to coach ratio of 10:1 or better.  This will enable our staff to get to know each camper, as well as better develop skills and quality relationships.

FUNDAMENTALS

We will teach individual technique – dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, heading, and other basic skills to ensure campers have a proper understanding of the fundamentals.

CHALLENGES

To enhance individual performance, activities that incorporate pressure will be introduced.  These activities will continually provide the campers with competitive challenges and opportunities to test their skills in a match-like environment.

FUN & EXCITEMENT

Enjoyment of the sport is top priority at our camp.  Every activity is organized with fun and excitement in mind.  We believe that activities planned around fun and excitement help create an environment that stimulates learning.

BUILDING SELF-ESTEEM

Players will be encouraged at every turn to help build their confidence.  This is an essential building block to youth development and spread well beyond the soccer field.  It is a key influence that can open the mind and heart of a young boy or girl to soccer, perhaps forever.  This psychological component is at the core of our camp’s philosophy, and the camp is geared to make the children feel good about themselves whenever the opportunity presents itself.
