Mike's journey of life and faith began in the little town of Bennettsville, South Carolina. His early faith formation occurred in a loving, Christian home and also within the faithful, loving embrace of his home church, First United Methodist Church. It was at a locally sponsored summer camp experience by his home church where Mike first heard his call to ministry. So, at the age of 15, Mike committed to seeking to become an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. The journey was not always smooth nor easy but it took Mike places like Spartanburg Methodist College, Pfeiffer University where Mike received his Bachelor Degree in Psychology, and Candler School of Theology at Emory University where Mike received his Masters of Divinity. Mike was ordained Deacon and made a Probationary Member of the South Carolina Annual Conference in May 1978. He was ordained Elder and made a Full Member of the South Carolina Annual Conference in May of 1981. Mike has served the Waccamaw Circuit in Conway, Centenary UMC in Conway, Quinby UMC in Florence, St. Paul UMC in New Ellenton, St. Mark UMC in Charleston, Highland Park UMC in Florence, Aldersgate UMC in Greenville, and Ashland UMC in Columbia. Mike married his wife, Angela, in December 1978. She was and is the best Christmas gift he has ever received. Mike's other great gifts in life are his daughter Shannon, her husband Doug, and their son (Mike's grandson) Jack Browne and his son Kevin and Kevin's girlfriend Meredith Chance. They all reside in Charleston.
