Children's Ministry

Since all children are precious, we believe it is our responsibility to nurture and to teach children about God's love in a safe and loving environment. We endeavor to guide children in their blossoming faith in Christ through various children's ministries: nursery, Sunday School classes, Children's Church, Vacation Bible School, Summer Soccer Camp, Kid's Ways to Praise, May Day Play Day, Wednesday Night Out Programs, and Children's Choirs.  Additional questions?  Please contact our Director of Children's Ministries, Hope Murphy at hmurphy_227@yahoo.com.

In order to provide a safe community for children and adults, the church requires all employees and volunteers working with children to comply with the "Requirements of Employees and Volunteers" and the "Child Protection Guidelines and Procedures" that make up our Safe Sanctuaries Policy.

Leisure Ministries

JWUMC offers several sporting options for those wanting to fellowship on the field or court.  All skill levels are welcome.

  • Co-Ed Volleyball (August through October)

  • Men's Softball (March through June)

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Josh Tutterow at josh.tutterow@gmail.com.

 Music Ministry

John Wesley's music ministry consists of congregational singing, chancel choir, youth choir, children's choirs, instrumental ensembles, and soloists. Our desire is to use as many people as possible, in as many different ways as possible, to lift high the name of Christ through music. To learn more about our music ministries at JW, please visit the Music Ministries website.  Additional questions?  Contact our Music Ministries director, Margaret Downs, at mdowns223@yahoo.com.

The Piecemakers

The Piecemakers meet weekly to assemble, repair, and work on quilts, 1:00-5:00pm every Wednesday in Room 214 (except Thanksgiving week through New Year's).  Proceeds are donated to mission projects.  Those wishing to quilt or to learn to quilt are welcome.

The Prime Timers

Prime Timers, a group of senior adults (age 55+), meet at noon on the second Tuesday of each month for lunch and an informative, entertaining, or inspirational program.

Sunday School Classes

Join us each Sunday at 9:45am for our adult, youth, and children's Sunday School classes.

United Methodist Men

This men's group meets periodically for fellowship, inspiration, and the planning of service projects and events.  Among the regular activities are:  a golf tournament fundraiser, a college scholarship fund, a father/daughter banquet, men's breakfasts, periodic joint meetings with United Methodist Women, an annual fish fry, and an annual spaghetti supper.  The group's primary purpose is to acknowledge the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all our relationships.

United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women's (UMW) purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop creative, caring, supportive friendships; and to expand the concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.  Members of John Wesley's UMW are divided among circles which meet on various days.  Each circle chooses its own area of study and/or emphasis for meetings.  A general meeting for all members is held on the third Tuesday of every month. UMW's commitment to mission outreach can be seen through work with agencies such as: Rural Missions, Wallace Family Life Center, UMC Relief Center, My Sister's House, Epworth Children's Home, Crisis Ministries, Other United Methodist Missions.  Please contact the church office for further information (843-766-5596).

Wednesday Night Out Ministry

A church-wide dinner each Wednesday from 5:15-6:30pm (September-May) followed by long and short-term bible studies for adults and Wednesday Night Out Children's Programs for various age groups.  Please contact the church office for further information (843-766-5596).
