A Note From Hope

Dear Parents and Children,

Happy May and Happy Mother’s Day!  May is a great month for John Wesley UMC and for our children.  We begin the month with MayDay PlayDay; we celebrate Mother’s Day, Confirmation and Pentecost on May 11, and we end the month with the last days of a busy school year (my, how time flies!) and the excitement and anticipation of a relaxing, fun-filled summer.  We’re not winding down for these summer months, though!  In fact, summer is one of the busiest times of the year for Children’s Ministries; we have great things planned for Summer 2008.  Please read more about our summer activities and opportunities and events in this newsletter, and pay particular attention to the information about and dates for Vacation Bible School, Summer Soccer Camp, and Kids’ Ways to Praise, our biggest summer events.  Please feel free to call me or email me anytime if you have questions or suggestions or if you’d like to get involved with Children’s Ministries this summer.  There are so many opportunites to participate in the summer; there’s no better time to join us!

God Bless You,

JWUMC Soccer Camp

Again this  summer JWUMC Children’s Ministries will offer a fun and innovative mini-soccer camp for kids ages 5 -12 from July 7 - 10, 2008, 5 – 8 p.m. each day at Ackerman Park, West Ashley.  Our camp is designed to meet the specific developmental needs of kids, and our focus is to improve individual technique and promote player enjoyment in a fun, exciting, Christian environment.  Our staff has been carefully selected based upon their ability to communicate with young children and serve as positive role  models.  Our camp directors are JWUMC members Robert Jordan and Ed Carson, both accomplished and credentialed soccer players and coaches.  The camp fee is $75 and includes a t-shirt and a soccer ball.  All proceeds from soccer camp go into the Children’s Mission Fund to support missions for children during the year. Registration forms are available from Hope in the church office and on line.  We welcome JW children and friends from the community, but camp space is limited, so please don’t delay in registering.  Call Hope for more information.  We thank our camp sponsor John Downs, Charleston Auto Glass!
