New Security System:The new John Wesley Security System has been in place since April.
There have been ongoing discussions/ concerns as to how to make this system work best for everyone in our church family. If you have some suggestions or feedback as we continue to adjust to this system, please let the church office know in writing. The Security Team and our Trustees will take this information and look at ways to continue to make this system work safely and efficiently for everyone!
As a review, what does this mean for our congregants and visitors?
Sundays will have little change. We will be limiting access to five doors: Sanctuary; Office entry; Coffee Spot; Rear door behind the Choir room and Rear stairwell near the LMR. Access through the Day School doors will be more limited on Sunday to protect the children. We ask that we all begin using the Coffee Spot entrance to drop off children for Nursery and Sunday School.
Weekdays: Please use the Office Door entry, which will be accessible 9-5 for the most part. If you arrive and find it locked there will be an intercom system located at the door which will connect to the Office and they can buzz you in.
Weekday Evening events will have four doors which will be programmed to be opened for scheduled events; Office entry; Rear stairwell door near LMR and the Rear door behind the Choir room.
For Wednesday Night Out we ask that we all train ourselves to use the Office entry. Once again the Day School doors will be restricted to protect our children.
When an event/meeting is scheduled, the office staff will make the leader aware of which door will be programmed to be unlocked for the event. The doors will be unlocked 15 minutes before and after the scheduled start time. If you lead a regular Bible Study or Monthly JW meeting after 5 pm which doesn't occur during typical WNO programming please call the Office Staff or email secretary@jwumchurch.org so we can plan for the regularly scheduled event. Please note in the Subject line: JW Security. Any single use or irregular event will need to be given to the Office Staff by the Thursday a week before the day to get it on the schedule and to be programmed properly. You can call the office 843-766-5596 or email secretary@jwumchurch.org. All existing keys will become inoperable after the 27th of April. In addition, please be aware that all building exit doors will continue to allow access out. We are just restricting entrance to a few doors in an effort to better protect our members, staff, visitors, and especially our children.
